Self-fertile. Large size fruit with greenish-purple skin. Light red flesh, excellent flavour. A regular bearer of heavy crops. Used for fresh fruit, drying and jam. The young fruit (often called the embryo) begins to develop at the base of the leaves on the growing tips of the branches.
As the branch extends and the fruit becomes further from the tip, it increases in size until it in turn is the largest fruit on the branch. During winter the small figs remain on the tree and continue to grow again with the spring growth. This method of fruiting supplies two crops of fruit each year, one in summer and another in autumn.
